Adele recalled her first haircut:
“Max loved my long hair but when I was in the latter part of the ninth month of my first pregnancy, I tired of twisting my hair to keep it neat. I walked into a beauty parlor and said to the beautician, Give me everything you give everybody except for a bleach or a tweeze. Then she cut my hair. I went back for the hair later but she told me that she had thrown it out. But she really didn’t. That hair was worth a lot of money.
“Max came home and looked at me and said, Did you see Mrs. Gass? Did you see Mrs. Gass? He never forgave me for cutting my hair. He stopped speaking to one of our neighbors because he mistakenly thought the woman and talked me into cutting it off.”
